Our Story

our roots

It's been a long road getting here. Wyndegard Farm has actually been in a process of becoming for about 7 years, and was only a hint of a dream about 10 years ago. We lived in downtown Rochester for a long time. It's a nice city, but it's still a city, and we wanted to have land and nature surrounding us. We also wanted to be fairly self-sufficient with a garden, cows, chickens, goats, and alpacas. Not that we ever lived in the country before or had much to do with farming (other than the occasional visit), but we knew what we wanted. When that opportunity presented itself in Palmyra, NY 7 years ago, we jumped. Now, finally, we have built on the land and developed this lovely little farm. We have the alpacas and chickens, and the garden has produced well for us for a few years now.

Behind Our Name

"Wyndegard" as a name came to us shortly after moving in and means (if you can forgive the mixing of several lingual rules) "House of Winds.” There is a kind of constant wind blowing here, which can make life adventuresome at times.
